Multi-Format VTR:3 record formats: HDV 1080i, DVCAM, DV(SP mode). 4 Playback Formats: HDV 1080i, DVCAM, DV (SP mode), DVCPRO 25. HD-SDI AES/EBU and RS-422A control.
The HVR-1500 offers many of the convenient features demanded by professionals, such as quick mechanical response, multi-format DV playback, and a robust set of professional video and audio interfaces ranging from analog to digital SDI and AES/EBU. Additionally, the new HVR-1500 offers HD-SDI and RS-422A control capabilities, bridging HDV source material and assets with high-end HD formats and HD editing environments.
Positioned as the high-end HDV deck in the HVR Series, the HVR-1500 is designed to be the bridge between HDV and HDCAM® format, as well as between HDV and XDCAM® HD format. For those applications where robustness and functionality are of prime concern, the HVR-1500 is the HDV deck of choice.
About HD Input, it’s HDV input firewire only, but there is no input for HD-SDI
Will accept SDI input.

Notes on the difference between Sony HVR-1500 verse Sony HVR-1500A:
– The Sony HVR-1500 can play back but cannot record DVCPRO 25 signals.
– The HVR-1500 can play back but cannot record 720/30P signals. When 720/30P recordings are played back, their signals are converted to 720/59.94P signals.
