Description

Blackmagic Design Micro Converter – SDI to HDMI 12G with PSU

The new Blackmagic Micro Converters are incredibly tiny broadcast video converters that let you connect between consumer HDMI and professional SDI equipment. TheĀ rugged and miniaturized design makes them small enough to be used anywhere! YouĀ get professional 3G-SDI or 12G-SDI connections, depending on the models, so you can work with SD, HD and UltraĀ HD formats up to 2160p60. Micro Converters use USB for power, so they can be powered directly from televisions or laptop computers. YouĀ can even purchase them without power supplies! Only Blackmagic Micro Converters feature custom electronics that conform to global broadcast specifications, and can be updated to new standards in theĀ future.Ā

Micro Converter SDI to HDMIĀ 12GĀ

This model is perfect for monitoring in all SD, HD, 4K and UltraĀ HD standards up to 2160p60. ItĀ includes aĀ 17 point 3D LUT for color calibrating monitors. YouĀ can also output the 3D LUT on the 12G-SDI loop output! Plus it supports DCI film rates including 4Kp24, 4Kp47.95 andĀ 4Kp48.Ā

Use Anywhere! Pocket sized broadcast qualityĀ converters!Ā

Blackmagic Micro Converters are so small you can use them anywhere! That means itā€™s always easy to keep aĀ few available for any urgent conversion task! Because they are extremely high quality, you can trust them for all kinds of broadcast, live production and on set use. UseĀ them to turn any computer display, television or video projector into aĀ high quality color calibrated broadcast monitor. They’re also perfect for converting the HDMI outputs of computers and consumer video cameras to high end SDI equipment. Imagine using aĀ slide show running on aĀ computer for high end broadcast quality titles in live production! YouĀ could even use them for extending HDMI long distances usingĀ SDI.Ā

Miniaturized Design. Precision engineered broadcast gradeĀ converters!Ā

Unlike other small SDI converters,Ā Blackmagic MicroĀ Converters feature the highest quality broadcast technology, miniaturized into an incredibly strong metal enclosure. Each converter has the highest quality broadcast industry standard SDI and HDMI connectors. Blackmagic Micro Converters include aĀ USB connection for power, as well as for changing settings via the converter utility on Mac and Windows. Because the USB powers the converter, you can even power it from televisions or laptop computers. There are even LEDs for status. YouĀ can also buy Blackmagic Micro Converters with an AC power supply including 4Ā adapters for internationalĀ use.Ā

Broadcast Quality. Big converterĀ quality, miniaturized!Ā

Unlike cheap converters, Blackmagic Micro Converters include the highest quality signal processing and deep bit depth video pipeline. Micro Converters have been engineered with precision electronics so you get very low SDI jitter, allowing you to extend SDI cables over long distances. Thatā€™s vital for live production where equipment such as cameras can be aĀ long distance from switchers. Blackmagic Micro Converters work with both 8Ā and 10-bit video formats, in RGB or YUV, and in all SD, HD and UltraĀ HD formats, depending on the model, up to 2160p60. They even support 1080p24, 1080p47.95, 1080p48, 4Kp24, 4Kp47.95 and 4Kp48 film rates! Plus you get fully embedded audio and timecodeĀ support.Ā

Update and ChangeĀ Settings!Ā

You can also change settings and update the converter software with the free converter utility that can be downloaded from the Blackmagic Design web site. This software connects to the USB connection on the Micro Converters and runs on both Mac and Windows computers. YouĀ can use the utility to change the converter name, which can be useful for identifying which converter is used for which task! When using the bidirectional converter, you can even set the camera number, so the converter knows when itā€™s being controlled from aĀ live production switcher. YouĀ can also select between level AĀ and level BĀ when working with 3G-SDI videoĀ standards.Ā

Monitoring with 3DĀ LUTs. Get color accurateĀ monitoring on any type ofĀ display!Ā

For color accurate monitoring, some models include aĀ 3D LUT! YouĀ can apply custom looks, color and gamma changes in real time for on set monitoring. Plus LUTs can also be applied to the SDI loop output, allowing you to use the converter as aĀ 3D LUT processor! 3DĀ LUTs are great for allowing aĀ low cost computer monitor or TV to be used as aĀ color calibrated broadcast or grading monitor. 3DĀ LUTs are included on the SDI to HDMI 3G, SDI to HDMI 12G and BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G models. YouĀ can even use DaVinci Resolve to create custom 3D LUTs! Because DaVinci Resolve can be downloaded free, it costs nothing to start creating your own library of 3D LUTs! Imagine reproducing old filmĀ stocks!Ā

Latest HDRĀ SupportĀ

Micro Converter 12G models have everything for the latest HDR workflows. Simply connect aĀ HDR monitor, projector or TV and you are ready for HDR monitoring! Static metadata PQ and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) formats in the VPID areĀ handled accordingĀ to the ST2108-1, ST2084 and the ST425 standards. Micro Converter 12G models handle ST425 which defines 2Ā new bits in the VPID to indicate transferĀ characteristic ofĀ SDR, HLG or PQ. Plus the ST2108-1 standard defines how to transport HDR static or dynamic metadata over SDI. There is also support for ST2082-10 for 12G SDI as well as ST425 for 3G-SDI sources. Both Rec.2020 and Rec.709 colorspaces areĀ supported.Ā

Includes HDMI TimecodeĀ SupportĀ

The new Micro Converter models use aĀ new Blackmagic Design custom hardware design so they’re more advanced to better support the technical features critical to high end broadcast workflows. These features include support for HDMI and SDI timecode conversion. YouĀ even get full support for timecode in both standard definition and high definition video formats. This means if you have any HDMI device that supports timecode, you can convert it to SDI and get that timecode into larger broadcast systems. Blackmagic Micro Converters might be low cost, however they don’t miss out on advanced features needed for high end film, television and post productionĀ work.Ā

SDI Reā€‘clocking. Perfect for longerĀ SDI cableĀ lengthsĀ

Blackmagic Micro Converters include SDI re-clocking on the SDI output. SDIĀ re-clocking will regenerate the SDI video, reduce SDI jitter and improve SDI eye pattern before the converter sends the signal to other equipment. This allows longer cable lengths because even degraded SDI signals can still be used. Other converters often leave out important features such as re-clocking so are not reliable for broadcast use. Blackmagic Micro Converters donā€™t suffer from these problems because they are aĀ more technically advanced design. AllĀ models comply with SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 424M and SMPTE 425M broadcast standards. TheĀ 12G models add SMPTE 2081-10 and SMPTE 2082-10Ā standards.Ā
